Or, it burns and darkens too much. If you want to put beeswax on the face to seal it, just brush over it quickly with a little tiny bit of wax. Don't smooth it out with the iron. Another thing to watch out for..I don't know if your iron does this, but if left sitting for a while my iron burns the liquid wax and it blackens. It settles down on the bottom of my iron, where I can't see it. I forget that it does this, grab my iron and ack! I've put blackened wax on my painting. Depressing!!
