I’ve been insanely busy lately, but I took some time I didn’t have to make this piece. The minute I saw it, I desperately needed to use the end of a receipt spool as a stamp. It looked like a flower center, so I doodled on some flowers, added a vintage button to one of them and made my little bird. The background and the bird use an assortment of acrylic and watercolor paints and the flowers are colored in with crayons and gel pens.

This Styrofoam block printing tutorial by Lisa Vollrath is so cool. I don’t have Styrofoam plates because they’re bad for the environment, but I’m going to see if anyone else in the family has a few I can have. Such a neat way to create faux lino prints!

I can’t wait until I get this last big writing job done. This week, I wrap it up and work six days for people vacationing at the library. Next week, I am back to my normal schedule and can finish up some swaps. Hooray!
